Tonight is the grand finale of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The most populair song seems to be Duncan – Aracade from the Netherlands. The bookmakers show a gap between him and Australia for over 30%. Will the bookmakers be right?
In this blog you read what I think about ALL songs. To write this blog I did listen and watch all the videos of the semi finals. If you can’t find yourself in what I think, that’s not my problem. I already saw that someone from Albania got angry with me and said “fuck you” to me. I told him that my wife would not like that, since we are just married for one year. ANYWAY! Never forget to keep on smiling 🙂
A little legenda for you to understand the colours:
– BLUE: I think/hope it will be top 9
– GREEN: I think/hope it will be top 20
– BLACK: no idea, can go everywhere
– RED: I think/hope it will not get a lot of votes
01. Malta: Michela Pace – Chameleon
The studio version is one of my favourites of this year. The vocals of Michela are not that steady live on stage, but yeah I forgive her for that. This song is just awesome and should end up top 10!
02. Albania: Jonida Maliqi – Ktheju Tokës
I still don’t like the song. But Jonida sings, or whatever she is doing, good. It’s a typical song for the Eurovision. Still I do think this song should end up at the bottom. Probably the one guy from Albania will now say “F*CK YOU” again to me, but I don’t care!
03. Czech Republic: Lake Malawi – Friend of A Friend
I like the 80s/90s vibe of this song a lot. But if it will be good enough for the finals? I don’t know! But I really enjoy the song. AND all the funny things you can say back to Lake Malawi 🙂
04. Germany: S!sters – Sister
I like that blonde sister! Oh also the brunette! But singing, no sorry. You should not sing girls. You are sexy! YES !! But singing: there are like 20 other countries with better singers. You ALMOST make me think about “Double Date – E-Mail To Berlin”. 0 points!
05. Russia: Sergey Lazarev – Scream
This year is the “come back” of some people. One of them is Sergey. His song Scream is not that strong as with the song he should have win the Eurovision a few years ago. Everyone knows that he was the winner, but politics kept him away from winning (sadly). This year Sergey will not make it into the top 3. Though: this song is one of the favourites of my mother
06. Denmark: Leonora – Love is forever
Leonora, a cute staging, a cute girl (quoting my wife) and a cute song! Doing the same moves as she is doing on the chair. Singing in English, German, Danish and French …. this should end up top 10. She can sing!
07. San Marino: Serhat – Say Na Na Na
Some say he is a hero, others find his song totally boring and don’t get it why he made it into the finals. I think Serhat is awesome! Can you imagine calling Serhad and all he is saying is NA NA NA ? Right! Not a good vocalist, not a good performance. But I love Serhat. Even though I love Serhat, his vocals are tooo bad.
08. North Macedonia: Tamara Todevska – Proud (#MKD)
Oh yeah, this is the girl who did listen good to Sarah Brightman. Mmmm I almsot forgot about this song. Yeah, she can sing .. even live! Mmmm this one is so hard to predict. Can be in top 15 but also can stay out of it. To be sure I say below 15, but upper half!
09. Sweden: John Lundvik – Too Late For Love (#SWE)
Suddenly John become populair this week. The studio version was for me toooo boring to be honest. Checking the performance in the second semi-final again and yeah, I get it why people think he will end up high. Dr Alban is jealous, John did steal his “Sing Hallelujah” girls.
10. Slovenia: Zala Kralj and Gašper Šantl – Sebi (#SVN)
For sure the most beautiful melody in my ears. One of the songs which can become a hit with different lyrics. On a chillout or lounge compilation perfect. Zala and Gasper have a great interaction together. Sad that everyone knows that the instruments are there only for the show. While I can listen to the song all the time, my wife finds it boring after 1min30seconds.
11. Cyprus: Tamta – Replay (#CYP)
Last year it should’ve been Cyprus who did win with the SUPER hot Eleni Foureira and the amazing song FUEGO! This year the singer is not that hot but the song is still amazing! A great Summer Hit for 2019. Not the winner this year but I guess top 5! The song is amazing anyway!
12. Netherlands: Duncan Laurence – Arcade (#NLD)
I still can not believe that my country is capable of sending a great song to the Eurovision. In the last 20 years we did only send The Common Linnets with a great song (ended up #2 because a terrible act was number 1). My wife keeps on saying it sounds like Coldplay! What can go wrong with Duncan in the finale? I think some led lights of his lightbulb will not work. That’s all! NUMBER ONE !!!!
13. Greece: Katerine Duska – Better Love (#GRC)
Katerine sings like she needs to poopoo all 3 minutes long. I still can’t believe that this song made it into the finals! If I were in the audience I would throw the balloon back on stage towards Katerine so she stops singing.
14. Israel: Kobi Marimi – Home
In the beginning I didn’t like this song. But to be honest, I like Kobi much more than Netta with her chicken sounds. The voice of Kobi is just perfect. This song is probably underrated.
15. Norway: KEiiNO – Spirit in the Sky (#NOR)
For me the winner this year! The live singer of Alan Walker + 2 guys. WOW! This is also the ONLY song this year where you can see that the production team actually did something with the country. The lyrics, including the small language Sami, some mythical creatures! YEAH! This song SHOULD BE number 1 this year!
16. United Kingdom: Michael Rice – Bigger Than Us
I am so curious what Graham Norton thinks about it. While writing that I did check a video of Graham and all he said: “its really good”. I think live Michael is not that amazing, but he will do well for sure!
17. Iceland: Hatari – Hatrið mun sigra (#ISL)
Don’t get me wrong, I love electro metal (PAIN for example). But this is only shouting and the 80s are asking their melody back. The whole S&M act makes it a bit funny to look at. But yeah, this track is ofcourse pure shit. I think that Iceland is happy that Hatari is a few days out of the country.
18. Estonia: Victor Crone – Storm (#EST)
In my eyes, as a straight guy, Victor is the most handsome guy on stage this year. But yeah who am I to say that right? The song sounds nice in the studio and live it’s still ok. I hope that it will end up at the upper half of the show.
19. Belarus: ZENA – Like It (#BLR)
Everyone knows I need to have a “MOST SEXY GIRL” every year in the Eurovision, this year it’s ZENA! Don’t tell my wife, but I would love to date ZENA! So hot YEAH! That ass, the moves mmmm yum! Oh and I love the song too by the way!
20. Azerbeidzjan: Chingiz – Truth
In Azerbaijan they did fire the dancers and did hire 2 robot arms to fix Chingiz his heart or whatever they are pointing at. Something they do not have to fix is his voice: THIS GUY CAN SING! Even though I did like the song that much first, for me its now a TOP 10 song!
21. France: Bilal Hassani – Roi (#FRA)
The live staging is amazing! Bilal as trangender and the first female dancer which is not like all the other dancers. The message is amazing. I still have goosebumbs and sometimes tears in my eyes when I hear this song! Best message this year is from Bilal! I hope top 5! He deserves it.
22. Italy: Mahmood – Soldi (#ITA)
Mahmood brings us a different Italian sound. Sadly no Gigi d’Agostino, but ok this is awesome too! Soldi is catchy, even though Mahmood his voice is not 100% in control, it is exactly what I want to hear from Italy. I hope with the first 15!
23. Serbia: Nevena Božović – Kruna (#SRB)
Sorry Serbia, sorry Nevena, I still have no idea what you are doing at the finals. But ok, there need to be songs for the bottom too. It’s not the song, it’s not the voice … I don’t know what it is. It’s just toooo boring. It will not end up at the bottom, but not with the top 15.
24. Switzerland: Luca Hänni – She Got Me (#CHE)
I don’t know where I did read it, but they all said that Switzerland did take some more risks with Luca this year! OOEH YEAH! Thank you LUCA for bringing us Dirty Dancing 2.0! We are already singing for days this song (together with Norway). Here in the Philippiens even the kids love this song! So if you will not make it top 3, I would love to promote your song here!
25. Australia: Kate Miller Heidke – Zero Gravity (#AUS)
Why oh why do people like this song so much? Only because of the staging. Kate is not singing good, the song is not good (the sounds are even terrible!). Australia did deliver great songs since the first time they did participate. But that you need to have a great perfomance to make people like your “song” is a fact now. This song should end up at the bottom due to the terrible song. But the performance will make it end up top 5.
26. Spain: Miki – La Venda
The most NOT Eurovision song of this year I think. But can you sit stil when you hear this song? I can’t! I hope this will be a huge summer hit this year! I would love that this song ends up in the top 10!
So, that was everything about the 26 songs of tonight. What do I think?
The songs which will end up in the top of the top 10:
– Netherlands: Duncan Laurence – Arcade (probably #1 or #2)
– Norway: KEiiNO – Spirit in the Sky (top 5)
– Malta: Michela Pace – Chameleon
– Sweden: John Lundvik – Too Late For Love (#2 or #3)
– Cyprus: Tamta – Replay (top 5)
– Belarus: ZENA – Like It
– France: Bilal Hassani – Roi (top 5)
– Italy: Mahmood – Soldi
– Switzerland: Luca Hänni – She Got Me (#CHE) (#2 or #3)
As you know I hope that Norway will end up high! I think that the Netherlands will win for the first time in a long long time.
For the following songs I hope / guess they will not get many points and will end up at the bottom. Ofcourse you all know that Australia will end up high anyway!:
– Albania: Jonida Maliqi – Ktheju Tokës
– Germany: S!sters – Sister
– Greece: Katerine Duska – Better Love
– Iceland: Hatari – Hatrið mun sigra
– Australia: Kate Miller Heidke – Zero Gravity
Ok 🙂 so far for this year! Hope you will love all the songs and you will have an amazing evening watching all these countries trying to win the Eurovision Song Contest! Don’t forget to keep on smiling!
