#Eurovision Blog 01: #ESC2017 Semi-Final 01!

So .. here we go with the first Eurovision Song Contest 2017 BLOG !!! In this episode all songs which you will hear at the 9th of May in the first Semi-Final.

Let’s do this blog in English like last year! So, all Europe can read what I think about the songs. I have seen many many many positive replies on my “Should I Stay Or Should I Pee”- card … and ofcourse many people shared my BINGO. So funny that people also had to “steal” my amazing bingo without mentioning me. But hey, when you make good stuff, people wanna use it without telling who made it right?

A brand new year, a brand new contest and ofcourse a brand new scandal. Probably also many bad songs … so let’s start with the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 blog!

01 Sweden:                        Robin Bengtsson – I Can’t Go On
Reading the song title I think “I can’t go on .. LIKE THIS”. A known song. But listening to the YouTube file .. I am pretty surprised. I hear some Justin Timberlake sounds, catchy vocals, great music. I am surprised. No I am not sorry .. Sweden is just the best music country in the world!

02 Georgia:                        Tamara Gachechiladze – Keep The Faith
Remember what I said about Sweden? Also with “Keep The Faith” I have an old song in my mind .. by Bon Jovi. But again only the title is the thing which is the same. Tamara has an amazing voice. The music is a bit classic and fits perfect with the ESC.

03 Australia                       Isaiah – Don’t Come Easy
Shall we start the “Worldwide Song Contest”? Maybe better. We will have many participants, many songs to write about, many things to write funny things about. But Isaia is just a boy of 17 years young, with an amazing voice. Nothing bad to talk about. The song is great. Typical Eurovision but also typical radio track.
Listen to it yourself: https://youtu.be/RiXEMYUqa3w

04 Albania                          Lindita – World
In Amsterdam the crowd went insane because of her looks: https://youtu.be/syYqQdoJZWk and because she did not wanna “sing back”. Anyway, I don’t know how her performance will be at the big stage, but I think she will be good. The song is typical Eurovision, it is not a good radio track .. it will not end up high in the charts .. but it’s good enough for ESC semi-final and final!
Check the official video at YouTube: https://youtu.be/cP0aQAdYNjY

05 Belgium                        Blanche – City Lights
She was participating in The Voice Belgium but dropped out in the 2nd live show but 9 months later she turns out to be the ESC baby of Belgium. I am shocked .. I thought first it was a male voice. It’s not a Laura Tesoro (you all remember what I wrote about her last year right?) so I don’t think she will make it to the finals. But the song is ok. It can be used as a TV serie melody by the way.
What do you think about? https://youtu.be/xbomdE81_mA

06 Montenegro               Slavko Kalezić – Space
Sorry .. I am confused. What is wrong with that official video? Vocals and lips are not synch. For all “man lovers” it’s probably no problem .. cause they will only watch Slavko. But as a straight man who loves to listen songs and watch good videos it is really annoying! The song is also not something special. I hope it will not make it to the finals.

07 Finland                          Norma John – Blackbird
Birds! Oh no, black birds! I think I am listening to a children song or something. It also sounds like a known song by .. I believe Vicky Leandros? I can write many things about this song, but it is boring. Probably a good ESC song. Not my favorite but it will make it into the finals. You can listen the song yourself if you want to have sweet dreams: https://youtu.be/ipK0AH-6Dis

08 Azerbaijan                   Dihaj – Skeletons
Why does this country deliver great singers all the time? Dihaj brings this amazing song Skeletons. So far this is my favorite of this evening. It needs to be in the finals anyway! You want me to write more? I can’t. Just listen to it yourself! Official video: https://youtu.be/z_UNpD0AvFc

09 Portugal                        Salvador Sobral – Amar Pelos Dois
Sometimes I think a country does not know what they are bringing to the ESC. But don’t shoot the messenger. It’s only about Salvador his looks .. cause the song is pretty good. If he will take off all his clothes suddenly at the semi-final, it would bea huge surprise for all the man lovers I guess.
‘The song is not typical ESC and that’s why I hope it will make it to the finals! What do you think? https://youtu.be/ymFVfzu-2mw

10 Greece                          Demy – This is Love
I think Demy would be a good one for my bingo of last year. The way she is saying the T, S and F in the beginning is just frustrating (would love to hear her say that word). This Is Love is a typical song which could have been a huge success around the year 2000. Beat is stolen for sure, I guess it’s “borrowed” from E-Type – True Believer. Anyway .. don’t borrow things if you don’t do it right.

11 Poland                           Kasia Moś – Flashlight
When your song is not so good … you need to make an official video with being naked. I think that’s what Kasia Mos her team did think (I guess). The music is not bad at all, the vocals also not bad … but it is just no match. Her live performance in Amsterdam was not amazing: https://youtu.be/rr0xcW-5yv8 . It’s not special enough. Probably Finals .. but will do nothing on radio channels.

12 Moldova                       Sunstroke Project – Hey Mamma
You call yourself the Sunstroke Project … but I almost get a stroke of the terrible vocals. Oh my gosh! Which idiot combines an amazing beat + amazing sax with terrible vocals like this? Did you see the live version? Check it: https://youtu.be/QecWkJWB7zI !!!  Also in the official video I still don’t get the reason why they choose the vocals!!! https://youtu.be/mvaLAs9cex4  !

13 Iceland                          Svala – Paper
There is no doubt that this song comes from Iceland. Check the live video: https://youtu.be/UZR7Oc3q_Oc  and know what I mean. It’s not the best song but it is for sure a good song for the finals! Also not typical ESC, but it is good for the radio channels.
Official video: https://youtu.be/sFyl7h4_H1k

14 Czech Republic          Martina Bárta – My Turn
The song is probably stolen, but I don’t care. I saw this live video ( https://youtu.be/AvzsEOuVapI) and I was thinking why she is singing like she is on the toilet doing a big poop. In Amsterdam it was already better (https://youtu.be/BVt86DGL8yE) .. but I don’t believe in this song. The official video, so the single release, sounds the best and is good: https://youtu.be/BoLWemuLP_g

15 Cyprus                           Hovig – Gravity
Cyprus was one of my favorites last year. Minus One had an amazing rock track. Not everyone did agree with me, but oke! This year it’s time for Hovig .. will he be that amazing? My first impression is that the sounds are a bit like Of Mosters And Man. The song is catchy and I hope it will make it to the finals for sure. As good as Minus One? No. But I like the song a lot
And what do you think? https://youtu.be/bxfQn7riJxo

16 Armenia                        Artsvik – Fly With Me
I was listening Dihaj for the 10th time on YouTube .. and suddenly Artsvik was following next. Hiiieeee Hieee hieee hie hieeee. In the official video I see they use the colors of the German flag: https://youtu.be/Yw6LdDo7HxA?t=1m59s Black / Red / Yellow! Is Armenia becoming a part of Germany? Sorry Artsvik, the song is not bad! It’s a surprise! Even though it reminds me of many songs again too. To the finals if the live performance will be good !!!
Check the official video: https://youtu.be/Yw6LdDo7HxA

17 Slovenia                        Omar Naber – On My Way
At the performance in Amsterdam the people seem to like talking talking more than listening listening: https://youtu.be/Rnr4B4aGqAs. But is the song that bad? Nah, it’s typical Eurovision music .. probably the ESC fans will love it. I think we should flush it through the toilet.
Find the official video here: https://youtu.be/fj9ssc-7Zzo

18 Latvia                             Triana Park – Line
Oh my oh my! They wanna end this evening with 2 bad songs? I saw the live video in London (https://youtu.be/6zlzb46WREc) and I think OH MY GOSH! The official version sounds much better .. but I still don’t like the vocals. Also the lips are not synch with the music in the official video. This song is also “borrowed” from a known song. Anyway. NO final please!
